Reading defender Tyler Bindon had a night to remember for his country as New Zealand hammered Vanuata 8-1 in World Cup qualification, with the youngster getting on the scoresheet.

19-year-old Bindon has already racked up over 60 appearances for the Royals since breaking into the first-team last season, finishing in the top three of the Player of the Season poll for last year.

Captaining the side on occasion this season, Bindon scored the opener in a 2-0 FA Cup win over Fleetwood Town earlier in the month.

Appearing in every League One match to date for Ruben Selles' side, the central defender has become a mainstay for the All Whites, even appearing at the Olympic Games over the summer.

Bindon scored New Zealand's fifth and sixth on the night, with Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood also grabbing a brace in the space of 90 seconds.

New Zealand are now into the third round of qualification for the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, with one match remaining at stage two against Samoa on Monday.

Charlie Savage (Wales) and Basil Tuma (Malta) are Reading's other two international players this week, with the Royals returning to action next Saturday at Peterborough United.
