Reading midfielder Lewis Wing believes his strike against Crawley Town- which has won the EFL Goal of the Month competition- is possibly the 'best of his career.'

The 29-year-old is a firm fan favourite and won Player of the Season in his debut campaign last time out.

Renowned for his lethal finishing from distance, the former Wycombe Wanderers and Middlesbrough star has scored some memorable goals so far, particularly from free-kicks.

He has netted three goals so far this season, finishing on 11 last season.

However, his strike in a 4-1 win over Crawley Town last month beat off stiff competition to win Goal of the Month for October in League One.

Speaking to the EFL ahead of collecting his trophy, Wing said: "I think the goal is definitely up there with the best of my career - in terms of technique, scoring in front of home supporters, then going on to get all three points it certainly made it a more special goal.”

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said:“Wing was well over 30 yards out when he picked up the ball in midfield, defenders backed off and invited to shoot. Big mistake!

“He has a history of long-range wonder goals and obliged again! This one has to be right up there with his best as it left his boot like an arrow destined for the top corner of the Crawley net, unstoppable.”
