Reading Women are into the semi-final of the Berks and Bucks Cup following a penalty shootout victory over Abingdon United.
Pedro Bruno's Royals, now under the control of the Community Trust, have struggled to adapt to life in the amateur leagues and are yet to earn a point in the Southern Region Women's Football League Premier Division.
However, the former WSL regulars have started well in their defence of the Berks and Bucks Cup, now into the final four having started the journey much earlier than previous years.
A close-fought 0-0 draw over 90 minutes, Abingdon missed one of their four spot kicks and the Royals progressed 5-3.
Reading are reigning champions in both the men and women's versions of the competition, with Noel Hunt's Under-21s team entering after Christmas alongside the other professional teams in the counties.
Reading beat Marlow at Bracknell Town in May to win the title for the second time under Hunt, with many having already made first-team debuts for Ruben Selles.
