While the Reading players were enjoying a well-earned break during this international break, as were staff and supporters, five League One fixtures went ahead across the division.

Not a high-scoring weekend, with four of the five matches ending all-square, the Royals dropped one position to 10th and three points outside the play-off's ahead of Saturday's trip to Peterborough United.

In case you opted to take a break from following the third tier on a clear weekend, take a look below for a roundup of the action.

Exeter City 0-0 Lincoln City

Exeter City were, somewhat controversially, forced to play this weekend despite having three players away on international duty.

The lunchtime kick-off lacked quality but the visitors managed to test the Grecians most despite seeing much less of the ball.

Gary Caldwell's side were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time as former Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods received two yellow cards while assistant coach David Perkins was also sent off late on after an altercation.

Michael Skubala's Imps remain sixth while Exeter sit ninth and directly above the Royals on goal difference.

Blackpool 0-0 Northampton Town

Similar to at St James Park, neither side produced a great deal of quality at Bloomfield Road as Jon Brady's Cobblers walked away from the Fylde Coast with a hard-earned point.

Less than 9,000 supporters turned out and Rob Apter looked set to steal the win late on before the youngster fired wide.

Steve Bruce's side sit in 18th while Northampton are marginally better off in 16th.

Bristol Rovers 0-0 Crawley Town

Matt Taylor's Pirates were perhaps fortunate to walk away with a share of the spoils at the Memorial Stadium against the Red Devils, with Rob Elliott's strugglers missing some key chances late on.

The hosts hit the woodwork early on and were unlucky not to take the lead but as the tense affair dragged on the visitors had more impetus.

A draw keeps Crawley inside the relegation zone, albeit only by one point, while Rovers sit in 14th.

Cambridge United 1-1 Barnsley

Cambridge reacted positively to last week's 6-1 derby hammering by Peterborough United, earning a draw with high fliers Barnsley.

Dan Nlundulu put the hosts ahead inside five minutes but Stephen Humphrys emphatically levelled the scores before the 20 minute mark.

Both sides came close to a winner, the Tykes having an effort ruled out for offside and Michael Morrison hitting the post, but the draw keeps Cambridge in the bottom four and Barnsley in the top six.

Stockport County 1-0 Wrexham

Louie Barry scored a fine goal for Stockport in the battle of the newly promoted sides, Wrexham losing ground on the top two who were without a game.

The Hatters, who won League Two ahead of Phil Parkinson's glamourous North Wales outfit, had won 5-0 and lost 5-0 in their previous matches, so nobody could predict the outcome for certain.

The Red Dragons remain third while Stockport sit fourth, both adapting well to life back in the third tier after promotion.
