The famous saying goes 'home is where the heart is. Well, for Reading Football Club it is also where the points are as, statistically, the Royals are in their best form on home soil for 30 years.
So far this season alone, the likes of Wigan Athletic, Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town have been toppled in 'Fortress SCL'- something RG2 has been dubbed since the arrival of Ruben Selles.
Even last season, where the club overturned poor form and were cut adrift at the foot of League One, only six teams walked away with all three points.
When it comes to points per game, the Royals' 2.28 is their best run of form at home since 1993- a year which kickstarted promotion back to the second tier under Mark McGhee in 1993/94.
Since January 1, which saw the Royals move out of the relegation zone with a 3-2 win over Exeter City, Reading have won 13 home league matches out of 18, losing only three.
In modern times, this has only been topped in 2010 (14) and 2000 (16) and four wins in the final four home league matches of the year would see those records surpassed.
This is in stark contrast to some of the more barren years in recent times, such as the five home wins in the entirety of 2018.
Wycombe Wanderers, Shrewsbury Town and Leyton Orient are the only three teams, to date, to have won on home soil in 2024. 2004 saw only two home defeats as Reading narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs.
It's not just wins, draws and losses that stack up to make 2024 and year to remember- the goals are flowing too.
At the time of writing, in the November international break, Reading have a +20 goal difference over home matches,. The last time it was better at the end of the year was 2010, when Brian McDermott's side were at a whopping +33 on route to the Championship title.
Setting down a marker to make 2024 a truly memorable year, four wins in the final would see see Reading finish with 2.41 points per game, which would be best since 1993 at 2.52, and the fifth best since World War Two.
It was last bettered in 1952 (2.62), 1949 (2.65), 1975 (2.64) and 1993 (2.52).
Another positive omen as supporters start to look ahead to the return of League One action, Selles' side currently have the same points now as we did in 2001/02, the last time the club hauled themselves out of the third tier and into the Championship.
With crowds down on last year, with lots of contributing factors but still among the best in the division, there is never a better time to spend an afternoon or evening in the SCL Stadium as Selles and Co. thrive on OUR turf.
