Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has called on his side to start 'putting some wins together' ahead of Saturday's meeting with Reading.

After 10 days off for international football, Posh head into the meeting with the Royals off the back of an eye-catching 6-1 victory over local rivals Cambridge United and sit just two points behind Ruben Selles' side after Reading's 1-1 draw at Stevenage.

Darren Ferguson's side reached the League One play-offs last season, their second successive play-off semi-final defeat, are remain one of the favourites for promotion come May.

Reading are without a win at London Road for over 20 years, drawing 2-2 on Boxing Day last season, and are looking to remain tougher to beat away from home.

Speaking on his 'Hard Truth Podcast', MacAnthony has called on his side to iron out inconsistency and kick-start a run up the third tier table, starting against the Royals.

"I’m gutted Charlton is off. It’s good on the one hand because we’ve got three players to get back that are key to everything, so that gives them an extra two weeks, but I’m gutted because the engine has started. I think we’re ready. We’ve shown even with injuries that we can win games on our best day.

"We need to be ready now. We’re getting into late November/December, it’s time to get the car started and go bang. Let’s start winning games. That’s how good teams come good, and I think we’re set up for that."

Continuing later in the episode, the Irishman added: "I don’t care who we’re playing. We have to just beat what’s put in front of us and get going. We need to stack some wins together, we can’t just win one, batter someone and lose a stupid game late on. We need to win some games so that’s what we’ve got to do."
