Reading boss Ruben Selles admitted that he 'enjoyed' playing Peterborough United in Saturday's 2-1 victory in terms of the two teams' styles.

The Royals are renowned for their pressing game, something which saw them pick up plenty of turnovers, and the attacking hosts allowed space for Reading to attack.

Harvey Knibbs scored a first-half brace and it took the hosts until the 96th-minute to net their consolation goal, although plenty of chances went begging for both sides.

Away form has been questioned under Selles, with Saturday only the sides second away win of the season, but the Spaniard sticks staunchly to his style, which paid dividends in Cambridgeshire.

When quizzed on whether Darren Ferguson's side allowed the Royals to showcase their best quality, Selles said: "One of our biggest strengths is against the ball, when we can press and go high. Sometimes they break our pressure and get situations five against five or six against six, that can happen in our game, but sometimes we win the ball high and have chances to score goals. We press to score goals- Exeter was another good example of that.

"We have been evolving in a really good direction also in possession, so when we play against teams that are more direct, we are able to haver the ball and break the pressure. Today was a good mix for us because they are a good team in pressure, so we broke their pressure playing around and in-between the lines. When we needed to play long- remember one situation with Harvey Knibbs where we made a couple of passes, and the diagonal was completely over for Harvey to score?

"We like it when we can play this kind of game because you can get beat in this kind of game, but you enjoy the game. You have opportunities and it is a quick game. We need to get points when the games are coming like that and also make even better games when it’s a different kind of game."

Reading will be looking for successive away victories for the first time under Selles as the Royals travel up to promotion-chasing Barnsley on Tuesday.
