Reading boss Ruben Selles is looking forward to returning to League One action this evening as 'unpredictable' Cambridge United visit the SCL Stadium.
Garry Monk's side are sat in the bottom four and three points adrift from safety.
Exiting the FA Cup on Saturday as Wigan Athletic scored an extra-time winner, the U's had drawn their previous three league meetings.
Captained by former Royal Michael Morrison, Cambridge have won three of their 16 league fixtures and head to Berkshire where Reading have tasted defeat just once to date.
Needing extra time to overcome eighth tier Harborough Town on Sunday to progress to round three of the FA Cup, Selles' side face a quick turnaround before facing another two league matches in four days as they head to leaders Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
Looking ahead to this evening's meeting with Cambridge, Selles said: "The league is what we live for and what we want. It is an opponent that we know really well from last season. They have had some different results- they didn’t start the season well but then they came back and won three in a row.
"It is a team that is a little bit unpredictable but when they do their things proper, they can be a really good team so we will need to be at our absolute top if we want to beat them."
Last season, the Royals thrashed Cambridge 4-0 at the SCL Stadium, a result which went a long way to securing survival in front of more than 15,000 supporters.
