Reading boss Ruben Selles was 'happy' to see Harvey Knibbs and Amadou Mbengue return to the field in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Cambridge United.
Knibbs missed Sunday's 5-3 victory over Harborough Town in the FA Cup, nursing a knee injury, while Mbengue did not feature in last week's 2-2 draw at Barnsley or Sunday's win due to suspension and injury.
Mbengue started in Tuesday's win, lasting 80 minutes before being replaced by Harlee Dean, while Knibbs came off the bench and made a 35 minute cameo.
With a trip to league leaders Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, supporters and staff will be relived to see that both key stars made it through against the U's unscathed.
Assessing their return, Selles said: "- We knew that Amadou could arrive today in the game, that’s why he didn’t play in the last couple of games but obviously one of them he was suspended. I thought in the last ten minutes there was no point risking him and Harlee has been working really hard to get his minutes.
"With Harvey, he had been pushing to try and arrive at this game and he did it- it was my decision to keep him for the second half when I thought with the two teams coming from extra time it may be that the game goes down in terms of tempo and we needed a player who could really change the tempo and dynamic.
"When he came in, we had already scored but he showed the player he is and I am happy that they are both healthy and fit to play for us."
Both must be in contention for May's Player of the Season gong, with both firm favourites with the supporters.
