Reading have 'granted permission' for manager Ruben Selles to speak with Hull City over their managerial vacancy, according to reports.
The Spaniard has taken the Royals to sixth in League One amid nothing but turmoil off the field as Dai Yongge continues to drag his heels in selling the club.
Last year, after arriving from Southampton, Reading finished 17th in League One but had been as many as 10 points adrift of safety at one stage.
Reported on Tuesday as a favourite by HullLive, the Athletic are now reporting that Reading have allowed the 41-year-old to speak with the Tigers after Tim Walter was sacked with the club in the Championship relegation zone.
It goes on to state that compensation would need to be paid due to having 18 months left on his contract, but it 'would not be an issue' for the second tier side.
Speaking on the links after last night's 3-0 win over Cambridge United, Selles said: "I am happy here giving everything for this club. I am enjoying this group of players, and the things have done, are doing and hopefully will do."
Reading travel to League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday for a Berkshire-Buckinghamshire clash.
