Full-capacity crowds are set to be welcomed back to the Madejski Stadium from July 19 after the Prime Minister announced plans to lift almost all remaining COVID-19 restrictions.
Following Boris Johnson’s announcement this evening (Monday), all sports venues across England will be able to fill up to maximum capacity, meaning the Madejski could welcome 24,161 fans to future fixtures.
Since the pandemic took hold in March last year, crowds have been set at a limited number or kept out entirely.
A final decision on whether the restrictions will be lifted will be taken on Monday, July 12.
Speaking at press conference this evening, Mr Johnson said: “We’ll move away from legal restrictions and allow people to make their own informed decisions about how to manage the virus.
“From step four we will remove all legal limits on the numbers meeting indoors and outdoors. We will allow all businesses to reopen, including nightclubs, we will lift the limit on named visitors to care homes and the numbers of people attending concerts, theatre, and sports events.”
