Christmas is fast approaching, with only twenty-six sleeps until Christmas day.

The Christmas countdown has already begun; with many shops launching their Christmas adverts on TV and advertising their new Christmas stock this November.

It invites us to gear up and get ready for the Christmas chaos that awaits us as consumers embrace that festive feeling.

It’s no secret that the Christmas decorations consisting of bright lights, sparkling tinsel, stockings, scented candles and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree covered in festive ornaments and baubles are a big part of making the month of December have that magical Christmas feeling.

However, when is the best time to put up your Christmas decorations?

Traditionally, Christmas decorations should go up on the start of Advent.

This year Advent, a time where Christians prepare for Christmas day by focusing on the teachings of Jesus, will begin on Sunday the 1st of December and last until Tuesday the 24th of December.

Advent is a time where church services take place, carols are sung and Nativity plays are performed in schools across the country.

It highlights the religious meaning behind Christmas and ensures it is not lost in today’s highly commercialised Christmas.

However, in the past few years, it seems people have been straying way from tradition and putting up their Christmas tree when they want, with some people even putting their decorations up in the middle of November!

Christmas is after all on the 25th of December, so is November too early for Christmas decorations?

In truth, there is not right or wrong answer to when you should put your Christmas decorations up as it varies from household to household.
